Welcome to the Oswin project. A project of which I am proud to be Chair of Trustees, a project in which everyone, staff volunteers and Oswinners (our clients) work exceptionally hard to provide second chances for those caught up in the criminal justice system. Innovative and flexible, responsive to employers and offenders needs, it is a project that not only transforms the lives of individuals but helps society too; in the services it provides to local communities, by reducing crime and fear of crime and by promoting an understanding of the effectiveness of employment and support in the rehabilitation of offenders. Please take a look around our website to explore how we do this and from small beginnings what we, collectively, have achieved so far.
Pam Walker MBE Chair of Trustees
As High Sheriff of Northumberland some years ago, I was shocked at what I saw and heard whilst on my first prison visit. There appeared to be few opportunities for ex-offenders to access training and work, while there was overwhelming evidence that employment reduces ex-offending. Shortly after this visit and with the support of a few like-minded friends, the idea of the Oswin Project was born. Please do take a moment to look at our website and if you feel able to help us spread the vision of Oswin to friends, colleagues, employers, and businesses, then together we can start to create second chances and transform lives.
Fiona Sample, Chief Executive Officer
We want to give offenders a second chance. We know that without something productive to do when they are released many fall back into crime. If we can help them inside to acquire a skill or a qualification that will help them to secure a job after release then they stand a better chance of leading a more meaningful life. We would welcome your support in our mission.
