As High Sheriff of Northumberland some years ago, I was shocked at what I saw and heard whilst on my first prison visit. There appeared to be few opportunities for ex-offenders to access training and work, while there was overwhelming evidence that employment reduces ex-offending. Shortly after this visit and with the support of a few like-minded friends, the idea of the Oswin Project was born. Please do take a moment to look at our website and if you feel able to help us spread the vision of Oswin to friends, colleagues, employers and businesses, then together we can start to create second chances and transform lives.

We want to give offenders a second chance. To go the right way, feeling valued through employment, is so much better than reoffending. Reoffending leads to wasted lives, destroyed families and avoidable cost to the criminal justice system. It is not an easy task: but it is right to try.
